What is Corbin?
Corbin is an American seat maker that has built complete motorcycle seats since 1968. Every seat is handmade in its own factory in Hollister, California, on its own base and with its own foam. We are an official Corbin dealer: we advise, order directly from the factory and take care of air freight, customs clearance and VAT.

From one seat on a Norton to 35,000 a year
1960s
Mike Corbin, an electrician in Connecticut, reshapes the seat of his 1964 Norton Atlas. At a rally he sells it for 40 dollars, and friends soon ask for one too.
1968
Mike rents a workshop in East Hartford, Connecticut, and starts making seats full-time as Corbin Manufacturing.
1973
Corbin also builds electric motorcycles, and one of them is the first electric motorcycle to top 100 mph (160 km/h).
1974
On the Bonneville Salt Flats the Quicksilver sets a speed record of more than 165 mph (266 km/h), which stands for 38 years. That same year Corbin moves into a former woollen mill in Somersville, Connecticut.
1982
Mike designs the Gunfighter: a solo seat that follows the lines of fender and bike. Sales soar and it becomes Corbin’s best-known design.
1989
Corbin opens a new factory in Castroville, California.
1990s
Corbin moves to Hollister, California: today’s headquarters with factory and showroom.
2000
Mike is inducted into three halls of fame, including the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame and the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
2025
With 80 employees, Corbin makes around 35,000 seats a year. More than 1.5 million have been sold in total. The company is still owned by Mike.
2026
Saddle Company in ’s-Heerenberg becomes the official Corbin dealer for the Netherlands.

Why does our price differ from corbin.com?
US prices exclude tax
In the US, prices are published without sales tax because the rate differs per state. On corbin.com you see a bare price in dollars.
Your seat travels by air
A sea crossing easily adds six weeks to the production time. That is why we fly every seat from California to the Netherlands.
Customs and VAT included
Importing from the US yourself means dealing with customs, import duties, taxes and above all shipping costs. With us there are no surprise charges and no calls from customs.
How a Corbin seat is built
Corbin designs every seat on the motorcycle itself, with its own ergonomically improved seat base. That gives a different shape and a better ride than the original.
A Corbin feels firm at first. After roughly 2,400 to 3,200 km (1,500–2,000 miles) the foam has shaped itself to you. That break-in is part of it.
- 1
Fibertech base
Corbin’s own base made of a hybrid composite, shaped to the motorcycle. The base plate does not rust and on most models fits the original mounting points.
- 2
Comfort Cell foam
Closed-cell foam with a density of roughly 110 kg/m³, versus 50 to 65 kg/m³ for most stock seats. Integrated Molding bonds the foam chemically to the base.
- 3
Leather seating panels
Where you sit, Corbin recommends leather or Alcantara. Leather breathes and conforms to the foam during break-in.
- 4
Vinyl sides and welt
For the sides Corbin recommends vinyl. It stretches, springs back and keeps the foam in shape. The welt in the seam adds a colour accent.
- 5
Heating (option)
On many models a heating element can be built in under the cover.
Seat models
Corbin works with set seat styles that are developed per motorcycle. Not every style exists for every bike. These are the main ones.

Solo
Gunfighter
Corbin’s original 1982 design. Follows the lines of fender and bike, with a shaped rider platform and a padded tail for short two-up rides.
Hollywood Solo
Low, bare and tough, yet with more support than the slim profile suggests.
Gunslinger and Fast Gun
Fastback lines. The Gunslinger has interchangeable finishing plates that can be painted to match your bike.
The Wall
A Gunfighter with a much larger back support, for powerful heavy bikes.
Vintage Gunfighter
In the style of 1970s British racers, for example for a Triumph Bonneville.
Classic Solo
A wide, nostalgic cruiser shape, with options such as a removable backrest and heating.
Two-up
Gunfighter & Lady
The Gunfighter with its own shaped passenger section, often with a removable passenger backrest. Suited to sport touring.
Canyon Dual Sport
A two-up seat with a shaped passenger section, among others for adventure bikes such as the BMW R 1200 and R 1250 GS.
Dual Touring
Large, contoured platforms for rider and passenger. On many models with adjustable backrests in both positions.
Widowmaker
The two-up version of The Wall, with 5 to 7 inches of rider back support.
Rumble Seat
Looks like a solo seat. Flip up the hidden sissy bar and there is a passenger seat with backrest.
Touring, sport and off-road
Master's Type
A full touring seat for large touring bikes, built for long distances.
Sportbike Saddle
For the limited space on sportbikes. A neutral platform keeps you from sliding forward under braking.
Dual Sport
For off-road: more side-to-side contact while you can still move forward and back.
Shorter rider? Ask for the Close version
The Classic Solo, Gunfighter and Dual Touring often come in a Close version. You sit closer to the bars and lower, and the narrow nose helps you reach the ground.
Materials and colours
Corbin offers 76 colours and textures. You can combine them freely at no extra cost, as long as Corbin can use existing patterns. Only stingray costs extra.

Design your seat
Choose a material for each part and see right away how it works together. It is a sketch, not an exact picture of your model. Bring your design to the appointment.
Seat: Black Leather
Only materials Corbin recommends for that part can be chosen.
Seat glossary
The terms you will come across at Corbin, briefly explained. Handy when you browse corbin.com yourself.
- Seating panels
- The parts of seat and backrest that touch your body. Corbin recommends leather here.
- Side panels
- The sides of the seat. Corbin recommends vinyl because it stays crisp longer than leather.
- Welt or piping
- A thin strip of material in the seam as an accent. Not possible in heavily textured materials such as ostrich or alligator. It can also be left out.
- Stud band
- A band along the side of some seats that can carry a row of chrome studs.
- Backing plate
- The back plate of the backrest: ABS, chromed steel, black, or primer for painting. Can be replaced by a Glovebox.
- Fibertech
- Corbin’s own composite for the seat base. Rigid and rust-free.
- Comfort Cell
- Corbin’s closed-cell foam. Firm at first, then resilient and durable.
- Integrated Molding
- Production process in which foam and base bond chemically.
- Seating platform
- The dimensions of the seating area (width, length, depth). Corbin lists them per model; they indicate seat height.
- Close
- Version with the seat closer to the bars, a lower seat height and a narrow nose.
- Smuggler
- Lockable storage in the seat tail, big enough for water, a phone and gloves.
- Permacool
- Black vinyl that reflects infrared heat. The surface stays up to about 14 °C (26 °F) cooler in the sun.
How to order a Corbin seat
1. Advice
Together we pick the seat model, and whether raising or lowering it, a Close version, a backrest or heating makes sense.
2. Design
You choose materials and colours for seat, sides and welt. Every combination costs the same, except stingray. Embroidery is available at extra cost.
3. Order
You get a quote with a complete price. Once approved, we order directly from the factory in Hollister.
4. Build and fly
Corbin builds the seat by hand. After about 8 to 10 weeks we receive it in the Netherlands and have it cleared through customs.
5. Collect or delivery
We inspect the seat and you collect it in ’s-Heerenberg, or we ship it. Most seats mount on the original mounting points.
Tip: order in winter. Spring and summer are busy in Hollister and lead times get longer.
Warranty and care
Corbin warranty
- One year on the cover and heater.
- Applies to the original owner. Normal wear and damage are not covered.
Care
- Do not use petroleum-based cleaners or conditioners. They shorten the life of the cover.
- Remove the seat when you wash the bike.
- Do not leave the seat uncovered in the rain; water collects in the shape.
- Do not set the seat on the ground to sit on it, and do not drop it. Damage at the edge of the base voids the cover warranty.
Frequently asked questions
+Why is a Corbin more expensive with us than on corbin.com?
Corbin.com shows US prices without sales tax, shipping, import duties and VAT. Our price is complete: air freight, customs clearance, import duties and VAT are included. No extra charges afterwards.
+Does a different colour or leather cost extra?
No. All 76 materials and colours cost the same, including leather and Alcantara, as long as Corbin can use existing patterns. Only stingray costs extra.
+My new Corbin feels hard. Is that right?
Yes. Comfort Cell foam is firm and about twice as dense as stock foam. After 2,400 to 3,200 km it has shaped itself to you, and it keeps that shape, even on long days.
+Will my seat height change?
It depends on the model. Corbin seats feel wider and firmer than stock, and often make it easier to reach the ground. For shorter riders many models come in a Close version. Corbin lists the seating dimensions per model.
+Can I get a heated seat?
For many models, yes. The heated seat is a separate version with its own part number, so you choose it when ordering.
+Can I add a backrest?
Only on seats designed for it. On those seats the mounting hardware is built into the base or supplied. On some bikes it is not possible, for example because of the stock seat latch; the seat then sometimes has built-in lower-back support.
+Can my existing Corbin be re-covered?
Yes. Corbin can re-cover an existing seat or modify its shape. A new cover usually costs about 75% of that model’s new price. We arrange it for you.
